Maria Catrina Castro

Maria Catrina Castro joined the Children’s Law Center as an attorney in 2023. Maria primarily serves Greater Cincinnati’s teens and young adults who have experienced homelessness and poverty. Maria helps her clients with record sealing, expungement, eviction mitigation, and other legal needs.

Before joining CLC, Maria worked as an associate attorney at Taft Stettinius & Hollister, practicing immigration, labor, and employment law. Maria earned her J.D., Summa Cum Laude, and Order of the Coif from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2019. During law school, Maria was Co-founder and President of UC Law Women, President of the Student Bar Association, Associate Member of the University of Cincinnati Law Review, and a Social Justice Fellow for the Center for Race, Gender, and Social Justice (CRGSJ). Maria also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Timothy S. Black and a legal extern for TriHealth.

Before pursuing a legal education, Maria worked in various positions related to addressing gender-based violence in the community and supporting survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking. Maria received her B.S. in Communication Studies and B.A. in Political Science from Ohio University in 2013.
