Sam Showalter is a Paralegal and Community Advocate with the Children's Law Center's Lexington office. A lifelong Kentuckian, aside from a few years spent in the Washington, D.C., area, Sam is passionate about supporting underserved and disadvantaged communities across the Commonwealth.

Sam earned an M.A. in Sociology from George Mason University, where he conducted and presented research on topics including immigration, education, and economic inequality. He also holds a B.A. in Sociology from Transylvania University.

As a Spanish and French speaker, Sam is committed to helping minimize language barriers and increasing access to resources for children and families. Before joining the Children's Law Center, he taught English as a Second Language to middle school students in Scott County. He worked in the International Admissions Office at George Mason University.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with his three dogs.
